Eating Right & Staying Fit: A Family Routine
Parents should engage in regular exercise and healthy eating habits, not just for themselves but for their children’s benefit. On Tuesday, September 25, we’re celebrating National Family Health & Fitness Day by encouraging families to practice healthy eating habits and make exercise a team effort! Below are some quick tips on how your family can commemorate the day together and build healthy habits for the future.
Join your Local YMCA or Health Club – These types of places offer a variety of fun activities, making it easy to find something enjoyable for everyone in the family. From swimming pools to workout classes and even skate parks, there are often a variety of options to keep being active fun and interesting!
Register for an Upcoming Walk Event in your Area – Set a family goal to cross the finish line together. Most communities have a variety of walks and runs, ranging from a 5K to a marathon. Because they frequently align with charities, completing walks can also be a fun way to support a cause that’s important to you.
Minimize Sugary Beverages – Try substituting sugary juices and sodas for flavorful fruit smoothies. Add in your favorite flavor of Coromega for a healthy boost of omega-3s, and let kids get creative with new and interesting fruits and veggies.
Make Food as a Family – Minimize snacking on empty calories and create meals as a family. Making your meals from scratch is a fun and easy way to make sure your kids get the nutrients and vitamins they need. For example, make a breakfast yogurt parfait and add in your favorite flavor of Coromega3 +D Squeeze for a boost of vitamin D, or let kids decorate their own pizzas on whole wheat muffins with colorful sliced vegetables.
