The Development of Coromega

A "Caring Spoonful" Story.

Many Americans can remember, in the foggy mists of their memories, the moment they were administered their first dose of cod liver oil. The valuable nutrients, vitamin A and vitamin D, were the important reasons for taking this awful "caring spoonful" which was endearingly administered by a family care giver.
Surprisingly, the real nutritive value of this type of fish oil, was not discovered until the 1970’s when it was determined that certain fish oils contain the nutritional components, EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). In fact, fish oil is the only Omega-3 source that features the metabolites of EPA and DHA. And these two super-unsaturates have now been found to have profound effects on both the cardiovascular system and also brain and eye function. Knowing the worthwhile nutritional benefits of fish oil, or more specifically, the Omega-3 fatty acids that reside within it, a tireless scientist embarked on a mission.
The scientist was intent on coming up with a formula that would mask fish oil’s very unpleasant odor and taste and thereby enable his granddaughter to want to take fish oil, with its nutritive Omega-3 properties. His young granddaughter, Monica, was at first the taste tester in his quest for a great tasting fish oil and then its greatest proponent. It is because of Monica that Coromega was discovered.
As the story is told, when Monica was growing up, she could not always avoid grandpa as he waited for her with a new fishy-tasting "caring spoonful" recipe. She was both her grandfather’s inspiration and his consumer acceptance audience. Therefore, it wasn’t always pleasant for Monica. Grandfather always had a new fish oil recipe and, at first, they all tasted badly.
Then one day, Monica’s grandfather created a product that he knew young Monica was sure to love. This time she could not believe that what she had pleasantly consumed was really Omega-3 rich fish oil. It tasted more like a confection, and there was absolutely no fishy taste or aftertaste.
The tireless scientist/grandfather had finally achieved his dream. He had at last created an Omega-3 supplement delicious enough for Monica. The innovative emulsion technology gained a worldwide patent in the early 1990s. And, after some ten years of trial and error, the loving grandfather had finally connected all the pieces. Great tasting Coromega was born.
